REMC SAVE has new pricing for Supplies, Furniture and Technology 

Save time and money by purchasing through REMC SAVE! New contracts for Supplies, Furniture and Technology launched on January 1st. REMC SAVE offers more than 1,500 individual items and 82 catalog discounts through 22 awarded vendors.

REMC SAVE is a service of the REMC Association of Michigan for all public and private schools statewide and other public agencies.

REMC is offering Podcasting: From Idea to Implementation workshop on March 22nd   

Ready to start your podcasting journey? Looking to expand your podcasting knowledge with current practitioners? Join REMC on March 22nd for a workshop that will focus on amplifying you, your students’ or your colleagues’ voices through podcasting.

This workshop is a hands-on experience to equip participants with knowledge, skills, and time to begin developing and creating a podcast. Held at the Gratiot-Isabella RESD, people can attend as teams or individuals.  There is a virtual option.

Podcasting Training

Podcasting: From Idea to Implementation workshop to be held March 22

Ready to start your podcasting journey? Looking to expand your podcasting knowledge with current practitioners? Join us on March 22nd for a workshop that will focus on amplifying your voice, as well as your students or colleagues through podcasting.

This workshop is a hands-on experience to equip participants with knowledge, skills, and time to begin developing and creating a podcast. Held at the Gratiot-Isabella RESD, teams and individuals are welcome to attend. For those who can’t travel to the in-person session, a virtual option will be offered. The workshop is FREE and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those attending will earn 6 SCECHs. Click here to register.

In addition to this upcoming workshop, REMC has developed Podcasting for Educators classroom resources. These resources were designed for anyone – from those who have podcasting experience to those who are new to the game. Podcasting is a great way to increase engagement with both students and other educators. These resources help answer common questions and how-to’s and were designed with classroom teachers, students, administrators and support staff in mind. REMC student centered learning

REMC to bring blended, self-paced, mastery-based learning experiences to your classroom with Student-Centered Learning Across Michigan

Do you want to meet the needs of EVERY student in your classroom while making it manageable for you? The REMC Association is partnering with the Modern Classrooms Project to bring you the Student-Centered Learning Across Michigan (SLAM) project. This project will support teachers, in any subject area, grade level or school, as they implement three core, research-based practices that have been proven to impact student and teacher outcomes.

Summer Workshop: Creating Screencasts for your Classroom

REMC and Michigan Virtual are partnering to offer a FREE workshop on exploring the #GoOpen Michigan Resources and how to create screencasts for your classroom. Participants will earn 11 SCECHs and a $200 stipend.

Open Education Resources (OER) for Quality Teaching and Learning
Schools are continuing to use blended learning classrooms and look for affordable resources to quickly adapt. #GoOpen Michigan provides many quality free resources, many of which are both designed by and for use by Michigan educators.

During this multi-day hybrid workshop experience cosponsored by Michigan Virtual, explore, mine and contribute to the rich resources that are available for quality instruction on #GoOpen site. Participate in rich learning experiences, gain resources, and leave as champions of using OER in your school and with your students.

Commitment: Each session requires attendance at one (1) face-to-face day and one (1) virtual day, along with some pre-workshop activities, and completion of a learning object (eg. lesson plan, classroom activity).  In total, it will require a minimum of 11 hours of time to complete all required activities.

SCECHs: 11 hours of SCECH Credit are available at no cost

Earn: participants will receive a $200 stipend for fulling participating in the workshop and completing all activities including:

  • Attendance at the face-to-face and virtual days
  • Uploading their custom screencast to Mi Streamnet
  • Uploading their learning object to #GoOpen Michigan

We provide lessons and activities for students to grow their effective use of technology and be successful digital learners. There are also toolkits specific to presentation skills, media literacy and digital citizenship. Check out MI Streamnet to learn more about how you can avoid ads and distractions that occur when accessing videos and educational content from other sites.

Moving educational technology forward also requires professional learning for those in the trenches. We have a section dedicated to resources for those of you providing training and support services. The best part is everything is FREE and all content is licensed under a Creative Commons license so there is no need to worry about use or altering resources to meet your needs.
