CPI

Tech Connection to Classroom: Use technology to build content that reflects students’ cultures. Ex: Use book creator and have students take pictures from home connection or find through google images to develop an ebook about their culture.

Content Management System (CMS)

A content management system (CMS) is a software application or set of related programs that are used to create and manage digital content.

Tech Connection to Classroom: Google classroom is an example of a CMS.

Critical Thinking(21st)

Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action.

Tech Connection to Classroom: As educators it is our responsibility to allow students to think critically and give them the tools to be as comfortable with this as possible. Video can be an excellent tool for a student to reflect on their thinking.

Creation(21st)

The act of making, inventing, or producing

Tech Connection to Classroom: One of the main intentions of educational technology is to be more creators of information as opposed to consumers of information. Using tools such as google drawings, seesaw, and other learning tools to have students help create their learning products.

Conferencing

The holding of conferences especially by means of an electronic communications system.

Tech Connection to Classroom: Use Google Meet to hold virtual conferences with parents if there is any trouble with transportation or common meeting times.

Comprehension(21st)

The capacity for understanding fully. To grasp the nature, significance, or meaning of.

Tech Connection to Classroom: Use software or app such as flipgrid or garageband to allow students to record themselves reading a passage and listening to what they read to help comprehend and retain information.

Communication(21st)

a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior.

Tech Connection to Classroom: Use software such as Seesaw or Remind to send out communication to parents about what students are doing in classroom.

Common Core

The Common Core is a set of high-quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA). These learning goals outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live.

Tech Connection to Classroom: Common core standards are embedded with all lessons, due to this, most if not all technologies have a common core connection. Ex: For displaying standards use a program such as Smart Notebook Software to not only have them typed out, but audio recorded as well for English Language Learners and low readers.

Collaboration(21st)

to work jointly with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor

Tech Connection to Classroom: Use collaboration feature in Google docs, sheets, and slides to have student give each other feedback and work outside of school hours.

Coding

instructions for a computer (as within a piece of software)

Tech Connection to Classroom: Use code.org to help teach kids the basics of coding. Code.org also has connection to all core subjects and lesson plans for teachers.
